The weekend in Julian was quiet and relaxing and full of perfect weather. But you know what? I think I am a city person. That being said, it is so nice to have a place like Julian just an hour-ish drive up the mountain.
Every morning, I would look at the time and think "oh, it's three hours behind in San Diego..." I had to constantly remind myself that I was pretty much still in San Diego. Julian is a totally different world.
The cabin we rented had one and a half acres of fenced in land. My dogs ran and sniffed and screamed at deer. They didn't bark, they made screaming noises. Like caged monkeys. I'm pretty sure the deer blew their little minds. The only wildlife they ever see is an occasional skunk and the neighbor's cat so the screaming was completely understandable.
We went wine tasting at J. Jenkins Winery {apple wine - so good}; bought a pie and apple cider doughnuts at Julian Pie Company; picked apples; went to a bluegrass festival and just sat and walked the dogs run. It was all so fun.
How was your weekend?
