Well, that was a weekend

My weekend was so great.  It also lasted five days.  I would say "I wish all weekends were five days long" but I kind of don't.  Despite the fun times, I am exhausted and my stomach has some weird stabbing pain going on.  I assume after a day or two of normal sleep and food all will be back to normal.  One can hope.

Wednesday I took a quick four hour flight to Chicago, followed by a train ride downtown where I met my sister, grabbed another train, and ended up at her new house.

It is beautiful and spacious and right in the city.  I love it.

We walked around the neighborhood and my niece rode her new bike with "hair" {streamers}.

bike ridin'.

she said "ohhh, send that one to Neil!" ...kids these days.

cutest little boy.

Thursday two of my good friends came by for lunch with their kids {so many kids everywhere....I must be getting old}.  We ate and talked and watched children play and have breakdowns.  This is what adults do.

Thursday night my sister, her husband, their two kids, their dog, and I drove to Cleveland for a weekend bridal shower + bachelorette party for my sister's sister-in-law/one of my best friends.  Confused yet?

chicago.

Friday we hung out at my sister's in-laws' and I felt kind of crappy.  I think it was a combo of travelling, eating too much junk, and a minor stomach bug.  It was touch and go for a few hours but luckily I pulled through.

What a dumb weekend to get sick.  In my former life I had superior health.  Now I get sick every single time I travel.  Old age.

Saturday was gorgeous - perfect weather...blue skies, not too hot or cold.  Just perfect.  We had a bridal shower lunch and a fun bachelorette party that lasted until 3am.

 funfetti cake pops - YUM.

so good.

the amazing cake - made to look like a vintage brooch bouquet.

it tasted as good as it looked.

Due to my stupid stomach I consumed very few alcoholic beverages and still had fun. Have I mentioned yet that I must be getting old?

summer shandy at the south side in tremont {cleveland}.

Sunday we went to breakfast and then to the airport where I sat and cried.  {SO.OLD.} It's not like I wanted to stay but I also didn't want to leave.  Today I am fine and happy to be home, but dang that leaving stuff is hard.

good-bye hugs.

back to reality....

Alright y'all, I hope your weekend was as good as mine and that you survived your Monday.

xoxo
