If you like pina coladas....

Pina coladas have become my drink this summer.  Until a few months ago, I thought I didn't like them.  I am not a fan of overly sweet fruity drinks and that is how I classified pina coladas in my mind.  That was until I tried the SkinnyGirl Pina Colada.  Whoa.

Delicious fruity taste but not overly sweet?  I was sold.

Fast forward a few months and I finally succumbed to an ice cream blended pina colada, and you know what?  It wasn't overly sweet and gross.  It was ice cream, fruit, and alcohol- all in one frozen drink.  WHY DID I PRETEND TO NOT LIKE THESE???

Despite the creamy yumminess, an ice cream blended drink complete with rum is probably not something I need to be drinking on a daily basis.  So, I did what I always do with most indulgent recipes - I came up with a slightly healthier {less fattening, sugar laden} version of a traditional blended pina colada.

Using Silk PureCoconut milk, a little rum, banana, pineapple, and ice I was able to create a creamy, delicious drink that wasn't too heavy on the calories.

Blended Pina Colada
Blend 3/4 cup Silk PureCoconut milk 1/2 a banana1/3 cup of chopped pineapplean ounce of rum, and ice.

This recipe would also be perfect as a breakfast smoothie.  I would throw in some chopped kale and omit the rum, but that's just me.

Silk has a ton of recipes on their Facebook page- all of which can be made "adult" with a splash of rum or vodka.

Another Silk recipe I tried was the Straw-Nana Flip.  Every morning I make a smoothie and I always use Silk PureAlmond Milk, so this recipe was perfect for me.The only thing I changed was adding a little ice and some chopped kale.

This smoothie is under 150 calories and SO good.  Trust me, with the banana, strawberry, and almond milk goodness, the kale goes undetected.

Strawberry-Banana Smoothie
Blend about 1 cup Silk Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk1/2 a banana1/2 cup chopped strawberriesa big handful of fresh kale, and a few ice cubes. Enjoy!

The next Silk drink on my list to try is the ginger refresher.   A splash of rum in this drink would probably be the perfect summer cocktail.
